Give me will and give me wine Give me the road to hell and time forgotten Give me silver cotton
Give me meat and give me fire Give me the world and all my heart desires Give me silver cotton
And you ask me to be tender to this spaceship in the sky But I don't know what it is, I never seen it with my own eyes Just my silver cotton Give me smoke and the tick of time
Give me a revolution and all will happen
All that silver cotton Give me love and take my seed The universe is all I ever wanted All that silver cotton Cuz you ask me to be tender to the spaceship in the sky But I don't know what it is, I never seen it with my own eyes Just my silver cotton Gimme knowledge, gimme me brain Gimme the power to supercede horizons I’ll meet you there at sundown Ain’t no other option Gimme gold and gimme coin Give me your gods, I will take their place in heaven That’s just where I’m headed To all that silver cotton And you ask me to be tender to this spaceship in the sky But I don't know what it is, I never seen it with my own eyes Just that silver cotton Cuz you ask me to be tender to the spaceship in the sky But I don't know what it is, I never seen it with my own eyes Just that silver cotton Just that silver cotton Just that silver cotton Just that silver cotton Just that silver cotton

Open your eyes Let me hear you one last time Let me see your wisdom shine Would you open up your eyes? Give me one more frame of mind Why it feels so good to cry Gear you down and let you die We have come to say goodbye Kiss your cheek and comb your hair We have come for one last prayer We have come to hold your hand Watch your blood and one last tear Float away on one last tide By the pull of harvest moon By the waxing and the ripe Here’s a perfect day to die

Her 03:39
She is so beautiful to me Beneath her skies of devil green Within each burning grain of sand Within each atom of this land So why ain’t she beautiful to you? She’s in your water and your food She’s in your blood and in your lungs She’s in the man that you love She is so beautiful to me Beneath her silver dollar moon Within each animal I see Within the ones with venom too So why ain’t she beautiful to you? She’s in your water and your food She’s in your blood and in your lungs She’s in the man that you love She is so beautiful to me Beneath her caps of polar ice Within each water molecule A burning snowflake paradise So why ain’t she beautiful to you? She’s in your water and your food She’s in your blood and in your lungs She’s in the children that you love

It’s so easy… It’s so easy… It’s so easy, it’s so easy, it’s so easy to believe Paris is for love Paris is for love Paris is for love It’s so sunny And it’s so happy And it’s so friendly And it’s so nice It’s so easy, it’s so easy, it’s so easy to lie It’s so easy, it’s so easy, it’s so easy to deny Paris is for love Paris is for love Paris is for love Mon amour It’s so easy, it’s so easy, it’s so easy to believe It’s so easy, it’s so easy, it’s so easy to deceive, because… Paris is for love Paris is for love Paris is for lovely fools

The wild wind, she knows me My window's open wide Reflections in the mirror Know better than to lie The wild wind, she takes me In the palm of her left hand Reflections in the river Mirrored across the land And the wild wind, she needs me She got seed in her hair Are we the heir apparent? I've come so unprepared But the wild wind, she loves me She got water in her heart She's bleeding tears like raindrops What a work of art Oh the wild wind Oh, wild wind The wild wind, she knows me My window's open wide Reflections in that mirror Know better than to hide The wild wind, she talks to me A secret to my ear Reflections in those waters Mirrored across the years And the wild wind, she feeds me She brings me bread and wine Such an ocean of good fortune And I sold it off for a dime But the wild wind, she loves me She got mourning in her heart And she's bleeding tears like sundrops What a way to start again Oh the wild wind Oh my wild wind

Bad Moon 05:01
Holy Horizon diseases Only the living could be so positive Save for this Bad Moon Rising I thought the war was all over I thought my working day was done Save for this Bad Moon Rising When I was young it was like yesterday I believed in magic and I believed in Santa Claus And I believed in ghosts and UFOs Government cover-ups, conspiracy theories And many theories, isn’t that tragic...?! Oh my… Bad Moon Rising We are the Heavens, we are the Gods We just appointed one is all And now the heavens are undone By this Bad Moon Rising

Consider me your northern star Consider me your cross Consider me in some universe Consider me as lost Consider me as lost as I am Consider me as random Consider me with awe Consider me some blossom Consider me some flaw Consider I just found out who you are In this urban country I can’t feel I’m as good as dumb and numb for real So many miles and time away And the wicked waves of memory Might peel away what’s left of me I stand As I am Consider me as different Consider me the same Consider me your teammate Consider me your maid Consider you were made just as I am Consider me as trade-off Consider me the bomb Consider me the tenant Consider me as gone In this urban country I can’t feel I’m as good as dumb and numb for real So many miles and time away And the wicked waves of memory Might rip away what’s left of me I stand As I am As I stand As I am

about

URBAN COUNTRY... or the postmodern deconstruction of human-nature dualism. Whatever.

This Album was recorded LIVE at André Maquera's wonderful West Street Digital Studio in the summer of 2015 in the very green state of Vermont. It features Will Patton who generously agreed to track on 4 titles, and Jaro who gave us "Earth", which we recorded in France.

Most of the songs deal with the darker aspects of the human animal and its evolution, our dire environmental and social predicaments and other known existential threats. Although the lyrics remain more descriptive than normative, URBAN COUNTRY is a de facto protest album, confessional or even prophetic at times. To quote Anton Chekhov, "Man will become better when you show him what he is." Yeah, they can keep their happy music.

Back Story: The Zookeepers are a multi-national collective of musical heavy hitters in full flagrant creative collaboration with Post-Punk Power and Protest rocker David Rosane... who also has a gentle side.

Before becoming a full-time singer-songwriter, Dave had a career in Ecology and humanitarianism. He toiled in the Amazon for 10 years conducting research and teaching with Cornell University, and working as an outreach coordinator with Ye’kuana and Piaroa indigenous communities. He then moved to New York City as an environmental and social justice advocate in the years building up to the Occupy Movement. He now day jobs as a science writer and splits his time between Paris, France with the European Zookeeper contingent, and Vermont with the American.

We are all Zookeepers :-)
